Discovery Museum celebrates the spirit and story of Newcastle including inventions that changed the world. This impressive Victorian building is brimming with fascinating artefacts but at the heart of this museum is FUN! The ideal venue for anyone proud of their local roots.

The variety of spaces means you can create the perfect atmosphere you'd like for your special day. The museum hosts ceremonies, drinks receptions, wedding breakfasts for up to 350 guests.  

The Discovery Museum is a Grade II listed building, situated in a prime city centre location close to transport links and a variety of accommodation.

We work with a range of catering suppliers to provide a service bespoke to your catering needs including canapés, buffets, three-course dining and drinks.

Great Hall

The Great Hall is our magical Art-deco space at the top of the museum and is one of the building's original features. It has capacity for up to 350 guests and can be transformed into a stunning setting for ceremonies, wedding breakfasts and evening receptions.

Turbinia Gallery 

The Turbina gallery - home to Turbinia, once the fastest steam ship in the world - is licenced to hold ceremonies for up to 100 guests. Alternatively you can dine alongside Turbinia or hold your drinks reception here whilst having photographs around the museum before a wedding breakfast in the Great Hall.

Science Maze

The Science Maze can be used to host a unique drinks reception after your ceremony or before your wedding breakfast begins. It is jam-packed with scientific puzzles and curiosities, which your guests will have the opportunity to play on while enjoying drinks and canapés. This gallery is also licensed to hold ceremonies for up to 30 guests.

Turbinia Café

The Turbinia café overlooks the Story of the Tyne gallery and can be used for more intimate wedding breakfasts, drinks and evening receptions as well as smaller wedding ceremonies for up to 100 guests.
